in the dirt
in the dirt
where the flesh does not weep
where the toil and strife
are left behind in life
the age of shield
of sword and sackcloth
life is fleeting
death is ever waiting
the only true companion
is silence
the eternal silence of the grave
in the cemeteries and ossuaries
were purgatories veil is light
dance and dice and fornicate
celebrate the end of life
the end of life
with your book of hours at your side
say the name of your dead
pray for the clean death
with those who remember
around your dying breathe
in the dirt
thou art dust
in the dirt
your life meant nothing
in the dirt
thou art finally alive

A lot of epic and theatrical sounding black metal has to navigate the possibility of sacrificing some of it's vitriolic edge for the sake of creating a soaring atmosphere, or worse still it runs the risk of having a somewhat sterilised and cleaner quality of sound. Whilst neither is inherently a bad thing, it's a real treat to hear an album so simultaneously majestic and decrepit. Track four is fucking great! Ben Harris

Fast, raw and grim Black metal. It doest get much better than this.
Ashgabat sounds evil and dark as fuck with what seems no effort.
